Easter Team

Practical Christian love in action in our town

The Easter team is a totally voluntary organization, which provides Christian care for those who find themselves in Crisis. This support is provided regardless of race or beliefs. The Easter Team is supported by many Christian Churches from different denominations and free churches, as well as by local schools, and some local organizations, and works with other local agencies.

How did it all start?

When people see a need and respond, things happen. That is how the Easter Team began, when people saw there was a need and began to respond.

The need: some had to pick their food from the dustbins around town. The response: to give people a meal. The need: some were living rough or in squats. The response: to give them blankets.

As the scale of the problem became more apparent, more was done: instead of soup and burgers given in Queen's Square, a meal was served in the Salvation Army Hall in Spencers Road. Crisis help was given in many ways. A hostel for the homeless was started. As the work grew so more help was needed and the Easter Team born. Jesus said "Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me." - Matthew 25 v 40

The Easter Team is made up of Christian volunteers who:

• Want to show the love of Jesus
• Live in and around Crawley
• Want to give practical help and time to those in need
• People like you!
  

What does the Easter Team do?

Saturday Morning Meals - Each week a hot meal is served free of charge to anyone who wants it. An opportunity to chat is also provided.

Food Parcels - Food parcels are given to those who need them through the Resource Centre, the C.A.B. and through the Easter Team office.

Crisis Help - When there is no-one else to help the Easter Team often can, responding quickly to those in crisis situations.

The Office - We try to have someone in the office on weekdays mornings (times vary) to receive calls and deal with requests for help. Requests are wide ranging but we will help where we can.

Want to Help?

The Easter Team always needs food to give to those in need. Particularly we need tins of meat and fish, vegetables, soup, beans, fruit. We also need: pasta, cereals, coffee, tea, jam, long life milk. Financial donations are always gratefully received.

We are always looking for people to help in all of the activities listed above. If you would like to help, or to find out more about what we do, please do not hesitate to call us. We would be pleased to talk with you.
